System Sensitivity

The qNORM test evaluates the number of bound antibodies that can be resolved from unstained lymphocytes. Lower numbers indicate that it takes fewer bound antibodies than other instruments to detect the signal. The CytoFLEX Flow Cytometer performs very well in this test, its measurement is indicated on the statistical graph from data generated across a wide array of flow cytometers.

The CytoFLEX compares very well with all the best instruments out there. It definitely beats every instrument I own in the FITC, PE, PECy7, and APC channels.

Small Particle Detection Capabilities

The CytoFLEX Flow Cytometer’s exceptional resolution capabilities, coupled with SSC measurement using the violet laser, allow it to reliably measure small particles down to the 200 nm range. This allows researchers to harness the power of flow cytometry for extracellular vesicle research. This power includes the ability to detect large numbers of events, discriminate rare events, all while collecting information on surface composition, giving insights into the cell and tissue origin.

Detection Linearity

The third brightest peak in a Spherotek 8 peak bead run was assessed for fluorescence intensity in every channel across a range of gain settings and the values plotted and curve fit extrapolated in order to assess system linearity. The CytoFLEX Flow Cytometer’s linearity plays a crucial role in the compensation library feature and this linearity is what enables the instrument to recalculate compensation values upon changes in voltage settings.

Linearity is certainly a great asset of the CytoFLEX. It is truly impressive as all the channels displayed an almost perfect linearity. The minimum R-squared value achieved was 0.9998 which is exceptional.

Cell Proliferation Analysis

Combining BrdU incorporation to assess actively proliferating cells and 7-AAD to measure the proportion of live cells is an effective combination for assessing key population characteristics.  The CytoFLEX Flow Cytometer is ideal for these routine analyses.


T Cell Subset Analysis

The complexity of heterogeneous cell population analysis continues to increase as more markers are needed to differentiate functional cell sub populations.  With up to 13 channels for fluorescent detection, the CytoFLEX Flow Cytometer has the capabilities needed to meet the increased immunophenotyping demands.

Optimal Resolution for Low Expressed Antigens

Low expressed antigens and low abundance cell types are pushing the boundaries of flow cytometry.  The CytoFLEX Flow Cytometer has the sensitivity and resolution capabilities to identify populations with these characteristics.
